Many people including myself consumer alcohol at least once a week if not more, but is all this alcohol making you gain weight or lose weight? Of course, you think to gain weight right? Well, it actually depends on the person and how much you drink.
For those who can’t simply have one or two drinks which are most people alcohol is most likely going to make you gain weight for the reason that it is approximately 100kcal per ounce of alcohol but research has shown for those who drink moderately that replacing dietary carbohydrates with alcohol causes food body weight loss.
Although this may be the case I don’t think we should substitute alcohol for a meal or a carbohydrate-rich meal. Alcohol is can be easily abused and adding a couple of drinks after having eaten well throughout the day can weight gain as you intake more calories and end up in a calorie “surplus”. In my opinion, the article explains how its okay to substitute alcohol for a carbohydrate if there are calories left during the day but there can be adverse effects.
